A CLEAR WITNESS

Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.”(Genesis 20:10 NLT)

I pray that I can give a clear witness of Jesus Christ. I pray that these words will speak directly to your heart with no confusion only life.

I love it when Holy Spirit grabs me with the living word. It is always good, whether it is a revelation, a rebuke, or a reminder; it is always good. As I ponder this verse, I keep seeing encouragement as well as a challenge and an opportunity for rebuke!

This angel said that we are just like him. If we are just like Him, then we are testifying of our faith in Jesus. Our lives are a living testimony. The clear witness of our lives also provides opportunities to speak of what our lives show!

Do we worship only God, or is God displaced by other things? Do worries, obstruct our faith in Jesus.

When Abraham told Sarah to say she was his sister in Genesis chapter 20, the king asked him a great question: “What ever possessed you to do such a thing?” We all have those moments. We can look at that and wonder why in the world Abraham did not just trust God. After all God had already done so much for him and spoke to him; wait a minute God has done great things for us too and He speaks to us and; well ya! We all wander from the plan.

The essence of our life in Christ is to give a clear witness of the wonder working power of God that is in His son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. He came to give us, now life. It is a life of power and love and a sound mind. We switched off the old life and switched on a new life. We came from darkness into His marvelous light!

What a difference it makes when we turn away from our sins and unto God. As Jesus said, “the kingdom of heaven is near.” (Matt 4:17) He was not referring to an after-death place but rather a here and now place. We have the privilege of dwelling in it (Him) all the time.

When Abraham did what He did, God was there covering for Him. Abraham had his own reasoning. We sometimes have our own reasoning as well. We often come to the end of things realizing it would have been a lot easier if we would have just trusted and worshipped God.

When we worry and scramble in our own strength, we give a bit of a foggy witness of what Jesus can do or has done in our lives. We all have the same part to live. We may not all have the same way of playing the part and we all have the same message. We do not have one message when we are around people of like and precious faith and different messages in the world. It is just as important, or more important, that our message is the same everywhere. Show people until they want to hear! 2023, set the captives free. People in darkness need to see His great light.
