A DIFFERENT PLAN

But the work that has been given to Jesus is much greater than the work that was given to those priests. In the same way, the new agreement that Jesus brought from God to His people is much greater than old one. And the new agreement is based on better promises. (Hebrews 8:6 ERV)

I am so glad that God decided to pay for our sins rather than pay us for our sins. No doubt you have felt that great relief as well. In Ezekiel, God told Israel that He was going to unleash His anger toward them and call them to account for all their detestable sins. He was going to show them no pity and repay them for the way they had acted. Of course God always showed mercy, but it was an awful thought! I am so glad He had a different plan all along.
It is the goodness and the love of God that leads to salvation. A realization that we are lost but there is still hope in Christ. It is such a gift when we realize this. Jesus came with a new agreement for us. He came with better promises. He is the future and hope of us all. Oh if only we will open up the tablets of our hearts and let Him write on them.
Once we have opened our hearts, we must also open our minds so that we can understand that the same way that Jesus brought this new agreement, He left it with us to continue what He began.
He left us the promises so that we would share the promises. He said, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” Scripture tells us that as He was in this world, so are we. We are beacons of hope and of life.
This is why we received the promises; so that we would pass them on. Jesus is the fulfillment of all promises and He is all that matters. Truly, it is about Him, not about what He can give or do. It is about falling in love with Him.
When Jesus asked the disciples if they were going to leave once, Peter responded by asking where else they could good could because He was the word of life. Thinking of this, I have to ask myself if in fact Jesus is life to me. Is He my life? I think so. I could not imagine life without Him. So then I must be more determined to manifest Him in my words and actions, since I have been given this ministry. You also have been given this ministry.
Jesus promised that it would flow out of us like living waters. Sometimes we may get caught up on focusing more on having His blessing flow into us, and when we do not see it happening we lose sight of letting Him flow out of us. This should not be. The more we allow Him to flow out of us, the more room we have for Him to flow into us. There is a song we have sung for years that says, I’ll forget about myself, concentrate on Him and worship Him. That is the key to receiving the fullness of God in the land of the living. I am so glad for this different plan.
