A FAITHFUL ONE

But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved. (Hebrews 10:39 NLT)

I awoke this morning from an “un” dream. There was nothing remarkable about it. It was peaceful. I did not recognize anyone or anything about it, but it seemed fine. What woke me was a simple statement; “we missed the warning and we died.” It was so matter of fact, that it woke me. It was like someone saying, “we drove into the mud and got stuck.” No big deal!

When we know Jesus, it really is, no big deal! Earlier in the week, I was reading in the book of Hebrews and when I came to the verse above, I declared, “I am a faithful one.” The Lord has promised to keep what we commit to Him. Stay committed! How difficult is that?

Why would we ever want to turn away? He is such a great friend!

As we enter yet another year, there is no greater thing we could do than commit ourselves totally to God. We can live in the peace of God that passes understanding. Death has no sting, and the grave has no victory over us when we believe and trust Him.

As I finished up the book of Revelation, I love how they gather around the throne praising God. I can just see them looking at one another laughing and rejoicing and spurring one another on as they declare “The Lord our God the Almighty reigns! Oh, the joy! It is most certainly a good thing to give thanks to the Lord!

In our lives, we run into unfamiliar circumstances and settings. Things do not always go the way we want them to, but that does not change God.

Keep in mind that He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His promises do not change. His arm does not get short. His hearing does fade and more than anything, His love for you does not change.

Every day, He waits to hear from you! Yes you! He also loves when you exalt His name or declare how much you love Him. Don’t you just love Jesus? Seriously. Don’t you just love Him.

Today is the 47th anniversary of the day that my wonderful wife and I pledged our love in marriage. I was fortunate that she put up with me for 7 years until I met Jesus! I tell her that I love her. Sometimes, to be honest it is out of habit, but that is not a bad habit. Things are not always peaceful or perfect, but that cannot change how I love her. I remind myself that I love her sometimes.

Tell God that you love Him. Stir up your faith. Take a running leap and land in His arms. Imagine Him tackling and tickling you. Enjoy the Lord continually! Don’t let up.

We are all going to die. Most of us will. I don’t know what heaven will be like, but I can sort of see us sitting around enjoying ourselves sharing stories and ending our story with, “then I died.” How cool is that? Enjoy life here! The best is yet to come, now and forever!
