A GODLY LIFE
As we know Jesus better, His divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive His own glory and goodness.(2 Peter 1:3 NLT)
What is your first thought when it comes to living a Godly life? Do you think things like, I can’t be perfect? Or, not with all my sins, I can’t have a Godly life. Or maybe you think, “who needs it, I have a good life the way it is.” Have you ever thought of a godly life as a life supplied by God. A life that He has planned and made all the provision for.
Perfect! That is a word that we think of when we think of God. It would also be a good description of the Life God plans for His children. Yes, He really does want us to have a perfect life. Remember, His plans for us are for good and not for evil. Isn’t that what everyone is really looking for? The perfect life! Jesus is the only way that one can achieve the perfect life. He never intended that people settle in any other life than the life that He came to provide. How can we think that He likes to see people suffer? How can people think that God would want to leave them in dire circumstances? We have been fooled by the liar of liars and the enemy of our souls.
Think about it. Do you desire that your children fail. Do you want your children to suffer. Oh sometimes we say things like, “that is what you get, you deserve it, maybe you will learn a lesson.” But in our hearts that is not what we really wanted for them. Well in God’s heart, He wants us to have the life that only He can supply.
Look at the people in our society that people treat like gods. They have everything. Things that most of us cannot even imagine. Many become gods in their own eyes. But then, we have seen many who have achieved that place without a relationship with the true God come tumbling down. We have also seen many of them realize that all of that is nothing without the true God, and they begin to tell all who will listen that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
God has different callings for each of our lives. No matter what place He has called us to, He intends that we have a good, Godly life. He gave us the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. It is time we started to look into that truth and realize what God really wants for us. We need to believe His promises and apply those benefits to our lives, so that we can show others how good God is.
Let’s begin to say what the Word of God says about us. Let’s begin to talk the way we are supposed to talk. A friend of mine was talking about some athletes who were playing in the rain, and he said, “they will all get colds and etc.” I grabbed him and began to pray for him to get that out of his mouth. One of those boys was my son, and in fact I did not want any of them to get colds. We both laughed, but we also both knew it was right to retrieve those words and speak blessings instead. Let’s take the godly life that God has planned for us. Then let’s spread those blessings around in a godly way!
