A PLAN FOR OUR LIVES
"Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you."(John 16:22 NKJ)
If you have heard the Gospel, you know that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. As He was accomplishing this, He was destroying the works of the devil, and showing us how to live. Yes, He was showing us how to live! He was showing us how to trust and love God and how to love others as well. He also demonstrated just how devoted God is to His word. What He says will surely come to pass, so it is a good idea for us to be listening.
Jesus was on His way to heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father and pray for us. As far as I can tell, every prayer He prayed was answered, so I am glad He is praying for me. It’s hard to grasp sometimes that everything Jesus did He did for you and me. God had a plan for our lives in the garden, but that was disrupted by the devil.
The devil thought he won when he bruised man’s heel, but Jesus came and crushed him. Jesus delivered a death blow with His own death and resurrection. The resurrection could not take place unless Jesus died. Both were promised by God and the only way we could have life was to fulfill the plan.
As Jesus explained, His death was for our advantage. This way He could send the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. The only way we could have joy that no one could take from us was for Jesus to die.
His death was so powerful that it put out the lights and opened up the ground. That same power raised Jesus from the dead. That same power would also be offered to us so our light would shine in the darkness and we could shake the foundations of the world.
The bottom line is that He died for you and for me and accepting that truth and receiving Him as Lord and Savior is a great first step toward the life and joy He promised. In that moment we die to who we were and we are made new. But He did not die just so we could be made new. He died so that we could have life and give life.
We have the privilege of being renewed day after day. We can experience abundant joy and peace. These are all gifts that were provided by His selfless death. This was all part of His plan for our lives.
