ABOUT MY GOD

Jesus replied, “The one that says, Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only God. And you must love him with all your heart and soul and mind and strength.”(Mark 12:29-30 TLB)

I remember a song from long ago that I still sing with a little twist. Many or most of you will recognize it. “I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day…I guess you’ll say. What could make me feel this way? Guys would say my girl and girls would say my guy. Imagine that! We could say and think like God intended. Just so you know, God is not “woke” because God is the one who spoke everything the right way. God does not compromise and neither should we.

Ok, so about our God. Our God is my God. He is the one true God. He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He always has been and always will be and of course He is!

We do have sunshine on cloudy days and when it is cold outside, we have the month of May. God makes all things good because He is good. We have access to Him and all He is all of the time. What could make me feel this way? My God! Yes, talk about Him like He is. Recognize that He is our Father but most importantly, we must each see Him as “My God!”

He desires you personally. He does not want to be God out there or somebody up there or “God if you are there”…He wants you to declare that He is yours. When He is, then He becomes a favorite to talk about. Then we can declare, “I prayed to the Lord and He heard me.”

Another verse in the song declared I don’t need riches or fame because I am a richer man than anyone could claim. No matter what we have or do not have, when we have God we have everything we need.

We do not have to explain why things are the way they are and God does not have to explain anything to us. We have all that we need. We have comfort, protection, direction and well we have God.

There were times when Jesus told us that we needed to be satisfied just to trust. Even when we do not understand we can trust our God. Trusting God is not difficult. He is trustworthy. Sometimes we need to talk to ourselves about God. We need to remind ourselves that the very things that we think we need we already have in Him.

We need to guard against the distractions of what we think we do not have. For instance, we have health in Him even when we do not feel very healthy. We have strength in Him even when we do not feel strong. We have wisdom in Him even when we have no idea what to do. I guess you’ll say what could make us feel this way…My God. Yes God is more than we can imagine. Know Him. Love Him. Trust Him. Talk to yourself about Him. Talk about My God! This is simply doing what we know is right.
