ACCEPT IT

But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirty fold, some sixty and some a hundred. (Mark 4:20 NKJ)

“Well, that is just the way things are.” “You just have to accept it and make the best of it.” “Life is hard; you just have to deal with it.” Do any of these statements sound familiar? These and many like them are actually the standard that most people live by. Sadly this may be more true of those who believe in Jesus than those who do not. While people in the world will go to work to try change things, many Christians declare that it must be God’s will. It sounds noble to say that we do not know why God is putting us through one thing or another; unfortunately it gives God a lot of bad advertising!

Why is it that we seem to be more willing to accept circumstances than we are to accept what God says? For instance, why should we be more willing to accept sickness than we are willing to accept what God says about healing and health? There is no doubt that when sickness attacks, the symptoms yell loudly trying to drown out the truth. That is why we need to have the volume turned up so loud on the truth that it drowns out the lie. Have you ever been in a situation that turned into a shouting match? You know where two or more people are trying to get their voice over the top of the others. If you observe others doing it you can see the effort going forth. It usually ends when they give up. The final victor of course is the one with the authority.

Guess who has the authority when it comes to the Word of God? We do! He watches over it to perform it, but we accept and apply it! He sent His word to bear fruit. The Amplified Bible says this pertains to those who hear, receive, accept, and welcome the truth. It is no wonder that the enemy fights so hard to get us accept anything but the truth. Have you ever noticed how comforting the truth is when it comes into an uncomfortable situation? Has your first thought ever been, “Oh that sounds good?” What we need to learn to do is to just go with that thought! Unfortunately we often follow that thought with the word but, and from there it goes down hill.

Throughout the Word of God we see people doing the impossible simply because they accepted what God said. Hebrews eleven lists a number of them. I think there may just be even a longer list in heaven with a space for each of our names. The heading over that space indicates that these people accepted the word of God and produced much fruit. These people were blessed of God and a great blessing to others just as God said they would be. I want my name in that space, I don’t want it left blank.

Recently in worship a word came forth in song saying, “The time is here. It is not near, say it is here.” Remember, Jesus said, “Today if you hear my voice, harden not your heart.” His word is good for provision, protection, understanding and every other good thing. It is in our best interest to accept what God says. The blessing is for you and for the nations. Praise the Lord.
