ALL THESE THINGS

What you should want most is God's Kingdom and doing what He wants you to do. Then He will give you all these other things you need. (Matthew 6:33 ERV)

Before we can seriously consider being more than conquerors in all things through Christ, we need to come to accept that God does care about us and our needs. It really should be no surprise that there is a considerable amount of argument over this simple fact, since the enemy does his best to cause strife where ever he can and if he can keep people from understanding just how much God cares, then he can keep us from walking in the victory that God has promised.

There should be no argument, that what we should want most is God’s Kingdom. No one, except for unbelievers of course, should have any objection to all that God says His Kingdom is. If we believe what He says, then of course we should desire above all things to do what He wants, because we understand that this is what the kingdom requires. As a child desires to please a parent because it most certainly involves rewards, so we should be children in the Kingdom of God.

It stands to reason then that we should expect God to honor His own words and take care of the things we need. Why would we believe one part of a verse and try to erase the part that benefits us most. If we do not get this, we will miss everything and simply wander as frustrated and confused Christians in a world that is in need of victorious and confident children of God.

If we read what Jesus said leading up to this promise, we can see that He was promising the things that concern us most in life. He was telling us that we did not need to worry. He was giving us the keys to life as a child of God. I have often said that as a child I never worried about food or clothes or anything else. My folks took care of that. If I trusted them, I should certainly trust God more!

Hebrews chapter 11 tells us that if do not believe that God rewards those who seek Him, then we really cannot claim to have faith and if we do not have faith we simply cannot please Him. The main thing God wants from us is faith. He wants us to trust Him.

There are things far greater out there that God has prepared us for, but we will never even consider “All things” if we have no confidence for these things. As we mentioned previously, there are always unknown things. Some are challenges and others are open doors. How we handle challenges and whether or not we go through the open doors depends on our confidence in God for all these things.

We need to grow up and get beyond these things so that we can move into all the things God has planned. This is how we come to know that God knows the way through the unknown things. This in no way makes us immune to challenges and battles, but it does keep us in tune to the truth that we are more than conquerors in all things.
