ALWAYS LOOKING
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1)
It is great to take the time to be amazed by God. We seriously need to guard against letting up on the gas. If not, we can become so accustomed to being a Christian that we stop being a seeker, praiser, and worshipper.
We can get up and have a devotion routine that we have to get done and when it is done, we are done. We are locked in to behaviors that comfort us and still we can do the worst thing of all, and that is neglecting our relationship with God. If we are not careful, we can become one of those people that we never wanted to be; Christians just going through the motions!
So, let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us. This trail began when I sat down to spend my time with God. Now doesn’t that sound just like what I was talking about? I do make it a point to spend the first part of the day with Him, but what about the rest of the day. Our quiet time is so important, but how quiet is it? Does the phone buzz? Does an email ding? How often are we able to meet with God without interruption? Do your own thoughts ever interrupt you?
I was blessed on this particular day with the thought of all that He is, everywhere that He is and in all that He is. Seriously, He made everything so everything that is made reveals His if we are looking for Him.
In the worst of times and things, He is there if we are looking. Don’t make the mistake of looking for Him in order to blame Him; look for Him because He is there for you. Get comfortable with that, and He gets bigger and better. He is all things for all people whether they acknowledge it or not. Computers did not come from people; medicine did not come from people. People could only use what was made by Him in the first place. Even if they do not use it rightly, it was still His in the beginning. It is really beyond my ability to imagine, but just considering it all, filled me up. It reminded me to keep looking not only unto God, but for God.
We look unto God for lots of things but usually when we need something. A thought just came to me that God looked for the Adam in the garden so that they could fellowship. Those were the sweetest times. Why should God have to come looking for us? What if we would take the time to look for Him?
We want Him to come to us and that is good. We want Holy Spirit to come. We love His presence. We love how He makes us feel and we certainly should. I am thinking I want to just run to Him to let Him know how special He is. I am determined to never stop looking, watching, waiting, praising, expecting, anticipating, enjoying, calling, or trusting the Lord. Don’t let up!
