AND GOD
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you...(2Chorinthians 9:8a NKJ)
What is the very first thought that comes to your mind when you read or hear or see, “And God?” Think about this. There are a multitude of answers out there and each one is based on the persons understanding of God.
One person might think God is a joke. Another might think that God is for weak people. Yet another may wonder which God if there is a God at all.
Many people who claim a belief in God have thoughts that are far from the truth. Some say God never did anything for them or that God let them down when they needed Him most. Still others blame God for things that He specifically says He would not and could not do.
If we are going to experience grace (the special favor and blessing of God), then we are going to need to be diligent to train our minds and our mouths so that they flow in the right direction. Lord please do a work in my heart.
To one who knows and loves God, only good thoughts should come to mind when we hear, see, or read “And God. To be honest, as I think of this, I suddenly have such a racing of wonderful thoughts coming to mind that it is like a crowd trying to run through a small door. Every thought wants to be first. The best way for me to express it would be simply praise God in tongues. Seriously! Think about it. Isn’t it the same for you when you actually meditate on it? I never considered this myself until I started on this devotion. It is really fun. Wow! God is awesome. Let’s look at a few possibilities. I am certain your list will grow on its own.
“And God” is so good. I mean really, that thought alone makes a person want to begin thanking Him for the good, great, grand, and wonderful things He as done. Or God is so patient! Wow! Now there is an understatement. God is so generous. God is so kind. God is merciful. God is love. Yes, God is everything good that we can imagine and more.
Isn’t it amazing how His word can spark such wonderful thoughts? If you are in a place where something good or wonderful is not first on your list when you think of God, I encourage you stop and consider Jesus. Stop being led by lies. Really, any thought that does not exalt God is a lie and is not the truth. It is only in the truth of God’s goodness that a person can be truly free. And God is able to make all grace abound to you. He loves you so much and has so much waiting for you now in this life time and in the end eternal life. Don’t let anything or anyone keep you from the great plans He has for you.
