ANTICIPATE GREAT

Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. (John 11:25 NLT)

It is not natural it seems to anticipate great. More and more we are bombarded with bad news. We live in the most advanced times of medicine and we keep finding out that no matter what we do the there is always something new and harder to overcome. We could go from health on through all the trials of life in this list, but the answer has been the same for eternity. Trust in God. If we trust in God, then we can apply the advice of God and see the results God has promised.
The sustaining promise is that He is with us always. That means a lot if it means a lot to us personally, but if it does not mean a lot, then it can be easily toppled out of our thinking. Jesus was talking to Martha in this passage. He was telling her to expect great things. She was telling Him she knew what He was saying, but she really did not. She was not able to anticipate great for the current situation. She was still focused on the fact that Jesus did not come in time.
The truth is, not everything turns out the way we want it, but we should not allow that to be our first focus. Our first focus should be that with God all things are possible. We should live and breathe planning for our great God to act. We know that He is right with us. We know that He is for us. We know that nothing is impossible for Him. So we can think on these things. As we think on these things, we can be reminded of the great things God has done and they will give us hope. As we do this, we can begin to feel the doubt melt and the faith grow.
Today is the greatest reminder of all that God promised. Today we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. Because He lives, we live. He lives forever. We live forever. Because he has promised great things, we can expect great things.
That is why is important than in all things we anticipate His Great Promises. We must intentionally determine that we will not be moved by what we see or hear. We must always look to Him, for He is the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus continually tells the world that we need only to believe.
When the man who had come to have Jesus come and heal his child was told the child had died and it was too late, Jesus simply told him not to fear and keep believing. We know the scripture tells us that a merry heart is like a medicine. Sometimes it takes a good deal of effort to overcome thoughts of despair with trust for the great things of God. But the end of our effort to anticipate great, results in victory. If we simply continue to follow where doubt, misery, and unbelief lead us, there is no possibility of victory. Often times, God gives signs of victory and we simply will not acknowledge them. Anticipate great. He is alive.
