AUTHORITY GIVEN
Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. (Luke 10:19 NLT)
In the name of Jesus, we have authority over all the power of the enemy. Authority has been given and in Christ we have received it. The question is, will we walk in it? Do we walk in it? Do we always want to walk in it?
We do not need a lot of discernment to see that we do walk among snakes and scorpions. The subtle serpent is still working his wiles on those who can be wiled. He is still seeking whom he may devour. He is still undermining what God has said and entrapping people into his way of thinking and acting.
Unfortunately, we all have been duped at one time or another; probably more times that we care to admit. Well, we must admit it in order to be rid of it. Remember, we don’t know that we don’t know until we know we don’t know. We can pretend we don’t know even after we know, but that is not healthy. We have been given the authority to send the enemy running. We might limp a bit, but his head will be crushed.
Remember, our authority also enables us not to dwell on our failures because there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. If we desire to walk in authority and to please God, then we are in Christ. He is working in us to perfect us. Without Him, we can do nothing.
The devil is a liar. There is no truth in him. He knows what God says, but he can only lie in the use of it. He will find a way to try and trick you out of a truth that you have walked in. He will try and attack you in an area that God has spoken to you about. He will try and convince you that it could not have been God or that God has since changed His mind. God says that He does not change! So, take your authority and cast the devil down!
There are so many walking in such deceived states in our world. People are believing lies that they never would have believed, but the deceiver has sown, and weeds have grown. We must continue to stand because God has a plan for revival in the land. He is sending His truth and opening the eyes and disclosing the lies. Be prepared to hear people’s cries and use your authority to set the captives free.
Our authority over the serpent is intended to break his hold and crush him. We have authority to love and to bless and deliver. The temptation is to judge and defeat people, but that is not from God. There is joy in realizing that we have the authority to be free and we all know that free people can free people.
When we walk in the authority that God has given, we can rest in the fact that when we walk into the enemy’s territory, we are the ones in control. The snakes and scorpions cannot harm us. When we walk through the fire we will not be burned. God is with us. Be encouraged. You have the authority to overcome the enemy and be more like Jesus. Oh, how I want that!
