AWESOME ON THE INSIDE

God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:24)

We have such an opportunity to be a big deal to God. I don’t mean that we should be a big deal but rather that we are big deal to Him. He desires our love. He desires our worship. He desires our attention. Let’s start this with a confession. Say, “God desires me.” Think about that for a moment. Now let’s go on.

When God is on the inside, this makes sense. When God is on the outside this is just information. When God is on the outside, He is treated like a safety net. People who have safety nets never really want to use them until they need them and then they just hope they are there. Once they land in a safety net they do not want to do it again soon, but they are glad it was there when they needed it.

When God is on the outside, people who acknowledge He is there may make some time for Him and watch their language and actions for the time they are in a church meeting, but the rest of the time He is just there somewhere. When He is on the inside, we are aware of Him all the time and even the thought of wrong language passing through our mind is cause to repent, let alone having it cross our lips. Something is wrong if God’s name being dishonored does not hurt us. In the world we are certainly going to be exposed to it, but it should cause us to let God know they are wrong.

God on the inside is like shelter from the storm. In our part of the country people talk about the cold and the length of the winter, but in this day and age, we have good shelter and equipment to get us out and well, we are very fortunate. On the other hand, a hundred years ago this was not the case and winter was a terrible struggle. The difference between now and then is like the difference in God on the outside and God on the inside. There may still be struggles but we know we can handle them.

God on the inside is like having a tractor with a scoop when it snows. Before I had my wonderful old tractor, I would do what I what I could with the shovel until my brother in the Lord could get to our house and do the big work. Many times I would be working with my shovel as people passed by with tractors and I would think they could sure make quick work of this in short order if they stopped! Now I have the tractor and it makes no difference to me if it snows, I just plug it in so it is ready to go, and I never pass anyone by who is using a shovel and wants help. God on the inside is life!

Yes when God is on the inside, He is awesome. He is just as awesome when He is on the outside but, people do not realize it. Because they do not realize it, He is relegated to a safety net, or worse yet He is not acknowledged at all. We are blessed when we gain understanding. Once we get a little understanding we need to keep adding to it. Keeping God on the outside is like having a tractor and not bothering to use it and then blaming God because the winter is long and the snow is deep. Praise and worship Him from the inside. He longs for it!
