BE PERSISTANT
Preach the word of God. Be persistent, whether the time is favorable or not. (2 Tim. 4:2 NLT)
There is a great deal of concern right now for our great country. America truly is a great nation. We were founded on Biblical principles and that is what has made America such a great nation. There are many would like to ignore this fact, but the truth is the truth.
God warned us in His word that the day would come when people would deny the truth and prefer lies, and this is not the first time that His warning has proven true. The thing that people need to realize is that whenever this happens destruction follows. We have already suffered destruction on many fronts. The deterioration of morals, the attack on biblical marriage and well you can name plenty of other examples. People may try to ignore these things, but they are facts and they are a direct result of losing sight of what God teaches.
In the face of all of this, God has an answer for us as Christians. He says to be persistent in preaching the word of God whether the time is favorable or not. Don’t take the word preaching to mean only preachers standing in the pulpit or at some organized meeting of believers. Our lives are to be a living message to the world around us.
The enemy loves nothing more than to see the church throwing up their hands and declaring that America is going to hell and it deserves it. He also loves it when Christians stand by and just wait for the by and by. He loves it if he can get Christians to pull the covers over their heads and forget about the rest of the world, but God hates it.
God says to shine in good times or bad. What better time to be persistent than when people are scared and scurrying and looking for answers. If we are doing what God says and praying for people and for our nation, then we better be confident that He is hearing us. We better be persistent in telling people that we know that God is working because He said if His people who are called by His name would pray He would hear, forgive, and heal our land. What we see in the natural as hopeless, God sees as the verge of victory. Look at the example of Jesus on the Cross; what looked like the end of hope was really the beginning of life and the end of the power of death.
So on this day of the celebration of the birth of our nation, let’s give birth to a renewed determination to be persistent. Let’s be persistent in our dedication to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Let’s be persistent in our dedication to revealing Him to the world in word and deed. Let’s be persistent to let people know that there is hope and that all is not lost because God is on the throne and He is cheering for us. Jesus is making intercession and encouraging us not to give up.
Truly things may not look great according what we can see, but we serve a great God, and He is persistent and faithful. What does He see when He looks at us.
