BE PREPARED
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.(2Corinthians 10:3 NKJ)
If you have given your life to God and desired to follow Him with all your heart, then you know very well that there is a battle going on in the spiritual realm. As you look back, you can begin to see how the battle was on long before you ever made that commitment. You can see where you were a pawn in the hands of the enemy. You can see many times where it had to have been God who protected you and kept you alive. And you have spent time thinking, “if only I had known then what I know now.”
There are also those who are in a battle right now and you can’t figure out what is going on. Maybe you are thinking life is pretty good, but it is also pretty empty and so you are finding yourself thinking about spiritual things and beginning to seek God. Or maybe you know someone around you who is feeling this way; you can help them. Maybe you just came to know the Lord and you feel like the earth has opened up and is trying to swallow you. Whether you are being drawn now toward the Lord, or you have just come to know Him, or you have known Him for a long time, or even if you don’t care to know Him; still, the battle is on in the spiritual realm and we need to be aware of it in order to fight it.
Before we know the Lord, the battle is around us. We are tugged and pulled in different directions. The cartoon type depictions of an angel on one shoulder and a devil other are more real than people want to think. The devil wants to destroy us. God wants to save us. Once we begin to lean a little in the Lords way, the devil does everything he can to try and stop us and God continues to run interference and open the way.
Once we break in, God sends the same Holy Spirit who drew us to Him to dwell in us and guide us. Still, we have to choose to listen to what the Spirit says. We have to fight the good fight of faith. We have to yield to the desire to know God more. We have to fight against those things that the devil uses to distract us.
We really need to be careful that we do not just sit down somewhere and quit moving where the Spirit is leading us. You see we cannot win a war if we are not willing to fight. Of course we know that God wins it all when the end comes, but from now until then there are many battles for us to win and many blessings to be gathered.
I know that there are many who are discouraged and feel like they will never see victory. Some have won a few but are discouraged over some battles that rage on. The bottom line is that the one Who is in you is greater that the one that is against you. Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. The bombs of the devil have no power to destroy the shelter that the Holy Spirit supplies. So be strong in Lord and power of His might. You need only believe. You can do win. You will win. You are winning.
