BECAUSE OF JESUS
Before God made the world, He chose us to be His people because of Christ. He chose us so that we would please Him. Because we belong to Christ, God accepts us as completely good. This shows how much He loves us. (Ephesians 1:4 EASY)
Because of Jesus has been a recurring thought for most of this week. Every good thing is because of Him. Every good thing I have received in life and the grace to overcome the bad things, have been because of Jesus. Take a moment to consider your response to the thought, “Because of Jesus.” How do you complete it?
God had a plan because of Jesus. The enemy has attempted on many occasions to wreck that plan, but God is greater. Cain killed Abel and the enemy thought he had won early in the game. But because of Jesus God was not defeated.
God Himself came and spoke Abraham and chose a people to reveal what the favor of God would be like. People sinned, but God was not detoured; Time after time He restored His people…because of Jesus. Isaiah finally told of a virgin giving birth and that child was Jesus.
Oh the devil went to work there killing babies but an angel was sent to warn Joseph. Those babies have been praising God all this time. We know how the devil fought and tempted Jesus and that was a fail. He stirred the people to crucify Jesus and that was a super fail. Because of Jesus we prevail against all the wiles of the devil. Romans chapter six tells us that sin has no power over us because of Jesus.
What have you survived because of Jesus? What have you gained because of Jesus? What have we missed that can be restored with Jesus? The question is often how long we are willing to stand on God’s promises because of Jesus.
Sometimes, we are like people standing on a rock in the middle of the water. We are safe on the rock. We think about trying to swim on our own, but almost drown so we are hanging onto the rock trying to get back on. Jesus offers us a hand up but we are so busy worrying and so focused on the water that is trying to drown us and wondering why God does not do something; till finally we do look up and He pulls us to safety.
It can be a lonely place on that rock from time to time, but it is where we are safe. Because of Jesus we are safe. We will always be safe on the Rock of our salvation.
Our nation was founded on that Rock. It does not matter if people believe that or not, it is true. God is true no matter what people may say or think. He is the Rock that we must stand on. If we do, no storm can defeat us. Don’t focus on the things that look like they are not working out the way you want. Focus on what you know and what you have because of Jesus. Merry Christmas!
