BEGINNING
As we know Jesus better, His divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive His own glory and goodness! 2 Peter 1:3 NLT)
So, how are you doing as you begin this New Year? Remember, yesterday is gone and each day God gives us in a new beginning. If you were a success yesterday you can be a greater success today, and if you felt like a failure yesterday, today is the day the Lord has made just for you to overcome all of that. Today is the day for you to know you may fail but God never sees you as a failure. He sees you for all your potential, because He put great gifts in you.
True success is measured by the level of Jesus that is in us. This is what God looks for. We can all know Him better, and as we do His divine power gives us everything we need to live a godly life. A godly life is not a holier than though life, it is life filled with love and joy and peace in the Holy Spirit. It is a life that spreads light and gives life to everything around it. It is a full life that has been made whole by our Lord. Is this the desire of your heart as you begin a new year?
Yes, God focuses on the Jesus that is in us. He does not spend all of His time focusing on our failures. He works in our lives to bring about opportunities for more Jesus to replace those areas in our lives that are not yet full of Him, but he is not all caught up in our lack, rather He boasts of your successes. Look how He boasted of Job, even though Job himself later said that he thought he knew God before, but now he knew him in an even greater way. There is always room for improvement and growth, and that should be our hearts desire as we begin a New Year.
We are told in scripture to cast aside all malice, hate, bitterness, lust, and the list goes on and on. We look at that and we see some that does not have a part in our lives and other parts that seem to hard to overcome. 1 Peter 3:10 tells us that if we want a happy life and good days, we should keep our tongues from speaking evil, and keep our lips from telling lies. This truly seems almost impossible that we could really control our tongues. Scripture says it is a perfect man or woman who can do this. In fact no one can except the power of God assisting. Will we take His assistance? Do we desire to be all that He has called us to be and to do what He has called us to do?
Is this the year that we cease to dismiss those things that seem impossible and declare that all things are possible with God. Is this the year that we become totally dependant upon Him and allow Him to accomplish the abundantly above and beyond what we could hope or imagine? Is this the year that we desire His presence more than we desire what He can do for us? If it is, then this is the year that the floodgates of heaven open and we enter into a whole new realm of His goodness.
