BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE

"You people must see miraculous signs and wonders before you will believe in me."(John 4:48)

Jesus made this statement and then he healed the man’s son. Perhaps Jesus said it as accusation and perhaps He stated it as a fact and then showed that He was willing to do whatever it took in order for them to believe.

We declare in agreement with the Word of God, that we live by faith and not by sight and yet often we fail to believe what we see. We do not see what we should believe because we do not look for God in all the things He does. There is nothing small that God does, and when we see what we does we should acknowledge it and rejoice in it.

In Romans God points out that God has always revealed proof of His love and power, but when people refuse to see what is right in front of them they become deceived and lose the truth.

I believe that when we begin to show that we appreciate what appear to be little things, we will have opportunity to appreciate larger things. Just as we see Jesus teaching that those who are found faithful with little will be given more, so I believe that if we are faithful to look, to see, and to give praise for even little signs of God, greater signs will follow.

When the disciples encouraged Jesus to eat something and Jesus responded that He had food they did not know about, I asked myself, “Where does my greatest satisfaction come from?” Does it come from time with God or for God doing those things with Him, or from me and what I want and what I can get for me? What gets my greatest attention? What will ultimately do me the most good? What would your answer be?

When Jesus spoke to the woman at the well, did you notice that her sin was no problem for Jesus. He went right into issues of truth and trust. This may seem to be a bounce off on a trail from where we started, but the truth is that the biggest issue in a walk with God is not sin, it is trust. We need to trust that He can handle our sin. We need to acknowledge that we have it and whenever we have it, we need to let Him handle it. We need to see this and believe it.

When we do, we will begin to experience the satisfaction that only He can give. When we see this satisfaction or experience it, we need to acknowledge where it comes from. Often times I will see people touched by the Lord and I know that if they will just follow that touch they will find everything they need. This is why the enemy so quickly does everything he can to get people to question and set aside what the Lord has done and to blind them to the truth before they can see. For this reason it is important to believe quickly and follow the trail.

Consider what you see. Consider what you believe. Consider what satisfies you most?
