BETTER BELIEVE IT

"Unless you believe that I am who I say I am you will die in your sins."(John 8:24)

Call it narrow minded. Call it what you want. But Jesus said it and we better believe it. There are a lot folks who want to compromise for the sake of getting along with everyone, but we must not get caught in that trap. Jesus told us to love our enemies and bless those that curse us, but he never told us to forsake the truth. He never compromised. He told them He was the only way, and we better stick with what He said.

Remember, these were the religious leaders that He was telling that they better believe that He was who He said He was. There is no other name under heaven by which men must be saved. Don’t get caught in a trap of making exceptions. It does not matter how sweet the conversation might sound. Nor does it matter how awful some might try to make you seem if you won’t make an exception. Stick with the Truth! Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He is Lord!

Now, having said that, let’s go on in this truth that Jesus shared. Let’s look and see what other benefits can be derived from it. Remember, God said not to forget the benefits. Since we believe that He is who He says He is, then we also believe that He did all that the Bible says He did. Since we believe that, then we must also believe that He will do what He said He would do. Do you see where I am headed here?

Since Believing results in our salvation, it only makes sense that we experience all that we can of the fullness of our salvation. He was deliverer, and so people were set free. He was healer, and so people were healed. He is also our comforter, our helper, and our friend. He is the same today as He was then.

We may not always understand all that God is doing, but we can never go wrong believing Him. Remember how Paul stood in the middle of a ship that was falling apart and said that he believed God. It is not easy to hold fast to the confession of your faith when it looks like everything is falling apart, but if we hold on to Jesus we will be all right. He told them that they needed to believe He was who He said He was, or they would die in their sins. The same is true in every circumstance of life. If we will believe that He is who He says He is and that He can do what He says He can do we will receive the reward of that faith. He wants us to be with Him for eternity. He also wants us to reap the rewards of believing in Him now in this lifetime. All we need do is ask the Father in His name.
