BEWARE

Beware, lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. (Col. 2:8)

Let’s face it; there are a multitude of opportunities every day to miss the things that God has promised us. This scripture tells us to watch out for those things. In this world there are many different kinds of thinking and a good deal of it is at odds with what Jesus actually said.

Those far outside of the Gospel would like to see the message stopped all together. They do their best to convince the word that it is useless and powerless. If it is so useless and powerless, I cannot for the life of me figure out why they want it removed from, schools, public places, and everywhere else that it might influence someone. After all, the devil does a great deal to influence people and the only thing that stops him is the one who is most powerful. So certainly, people should beware of the devil and his ways.

There are also traditions of men that rob us without us even knowing it. There certain things that we learn to just expect to go a certain way. Even when we see in the Word of God that we can reach for something better, vain philosophy will attempt to over ride it. For instance, when someone suggests that a person can live debt free, most people will say it is impossible in this day and age, even though there are more and more people actually doing it.

If we just cast away what the Lord says without even putting up a fight, we end up cheated by empty ideas and deceived. It has always amazed me that more people are likely to reject you for strongly committing to Godly principles than they are for compromising them. That again is because people have been deceived into thinking that Jesus never really expected us to walk like He said. Tradition says that only a few in the early church were really called to do that.

Now most people do not mind catching a little windfall of the Lord’s goodness, but even then I have seen people quickly deceived into backing away from the great place that the Lord was leading them.

If you are feeling like you want to get closer to God and like He is about ready to open some doors for you; be quick to submit. And beware, for there will most certainly be a messenger of the devil who comes to convince you that you are heading in a wrong direction. If you let them, they will manage to deceive you right back into the place you were ready to leave.

Don’t allow anything to keep you from pressing on with Jesus. Anything or anyone that does that is a deceiver and you need to let go of the things that rob you. If they are important, God will bring them back in better shape than you left them. Beware.
