BLESSED AND KEPT

The Lord bless you and keep you. (Numbers 6:24 NKJ)

It is interesting that as I typed in this verse, the spell and grammar check wanted to change it to the Lord blesses and keeps you. It obviously does not know how to pray a blessing, but it knows how the blessing works. Our part is to let the blessing work.

Do you feel blessed and kept? Too often, we lose sight of just how blessed we have been when all of sudden there appears to be a break down in the shield about us. We forget to remember the Lord our God and how mighty he is!

We all need to take time to soak in the Lord’s favor. I look at my life and I can only imagine all the times He blessed and kept me before I ever even considered that He was doing it. People often say things to one another indicating that someone was watching over us. I sang a solo in my teens about the one who made the mountains and the trees and the river flowing to the seas; it was about somebody bigger than you and I. If you know the song you know that the someone was God. At the time I sang it I had no real appreciation for except that I liked the song.

The truth is that our spirit knows a lot more than we do, and when we finally see that it opens up doors of understanding that take a lifetime to comprehend.

What joy there is in taking a soak in gratitude…simply considering how good God has been to us! I told the Lord this week that I know He does not put one person above another, but sure felt like I have had a special deal! The truth is we all have a special deal in that we all have the opportunity for a personal relationship with Him. Sadly, many never take the opportunity to know God and consequently they never see that it was God walking beside them and helping them and keeping them even when they did not know.

The Bible tells us to worship the Lord and give Him thanks and glory in His Holy Name. It is not about whether we feel like it or not, it is about Him being worthy. You oh Lord, are worthy to be praised. Open my eyes Lord so I can see the wonders of your love. This is what the spirit longing our hearts is continually stirring up in order to bring us to the understanding of the power of God working in us.

The Spirit is trying to move us into understanding the greatness of God’s love for us. His power is found in the overflow of His love. We must first comprehend His great love before we can love like He does. It is in gaining understanding of His love that we begin to see just how blessed we really are and we feel just how kept we have been. Lord help us all to see that you alone are the source of all goodness, blessing, and truth. I owe you more than I can pay, so thank you that gratitude is all you require. Give thanks to the Lord who blesses and keeps you!
