CAN YOU SEE

Then Jesus told him, "I have come to judge the world. I have come to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind."(John 9:39 NLT)

Have you yet come to the realization that we see only a small part of the picture? Have you had the humbling realization that something you thought you knew so well, was completely wrong, or at best only partially correct. If you can say yes to these questions, then you are probably among those who can still see.

If on the other hand you scoff at this, and really believe that what you think you know or what your church organization knows or says is the absolute truth, and there is no room to learn or be corrected…then I would have to say that you are blind and guilty. Actually, it is not I who say it, rather it is the Lord Jesus who said it in the 9th chapter of John.

There are certain truths that we must hold on to because they are the absolute truth, like, there is only one Name under heaven by which men must be saved, and that name is Jesus. From there on, we all need to be taught. We need to be guided daily by our Lord. We have to guard against the leaven of the Pharisees. Remember, Jesus warned us about that.

The Pharisees were convince that they knew, that they could see. But Jesus said they were blind, and because they would not admit it, He said they were guilty. When we think we have it all together, then we become responsible for keeping ourselves perfect in our own strength. It just is not possible.

Yesterday, I met a dear brother in the Lord. He was from a large church organization, who some think can not be born again Christians. We had a wonderful fellowship. The light and love of Jesus was all over him. He had nothing against me, and I had nothing against him. In some peoples eyes, I would be wrong for even thinking what I just said, but Jesus has no problem with it.

I don’t know who has all the truth. Except of course, Jesus, who is the truth! I do know that anyone who is in Christ is God’s child and He loves them. I know I have much to learn, and I know Jesus will teach me, as long as I seek Him with my eyes open. There are many people who have perfect physical vision who are walking in the darkness. They are used to walking in a certain way, just like we can get used to walking in the dark in our own home. If someone moves any furniture however, we stumble and grumble. I think God is moving furniture on people sometimes, and instead of turning on the light and seeing what God is up to, they simply put the furniture back where they like it and turn the light back off. I don’t want to do that anymore.

God forgive us for our blindness and for closing our eyes to the things you try to teach us. Help us to see and keep on seeing. Keep us from compromise as well as from being stiff necked and too proud to learn. Thank your Lord. Amen
