CAN YOU SEE IT

"I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God."(John 3:3)

There are things that may be very obvious to one person that another just does not see. Just because you spot something in the sky does not mean someone else can see it. You may see something out in a field or in a picture or any of a number of places, but that does not meant that another person will immediately spot it.

We have all spotted things that someone else could not see, or looked for something that someone else has already spotted. In the present day high tech world, we all utilize many things that we have little or no comprehension of how they work; we are just glad they do. Even though we are not certain how everything works, we are willing to put forth the effort to learn how to use them because we see the advantage of putting them to work.

With that in mind, move back a couple thousand years and apply it to the conversation that Jesus had with Nicodemus. Nicodemus had figured out that Jesus must be sent by God just from seeing the miraculous signs. Jesus responded by telling him that the only way to really see the Kingdom of God was to be born again. I think this was sort of like when you can see something and you are trying to point it out to someone else. They are looking in the right direction they just need to fine tune their search. Nicodemus was ready to begin to understand what he was already seeing.

He did not reject what Jesus said; he just wanted to see it more clearly. Jesus then pointed out that just as you cannot tell where the wind is coming from you also cannot explain how a person is born of the Spirit. When you are, you know, because you can see things you did not see before and you know things you did not know before.

When a person is born of the Spirit, they can begin to see the Kingdom of God. Not only can we see the Kingdom of God, but we can see that there is more that we do not yet see and the desire is there to see it. The Spirit within longs for more of the Kingdom and if we yield to the Holy Spirit we discover what the Spirit is revealing.

Unfortunately, being born of the Spirit does guarantee that we will walk in the Spirit because that is our choice. There are many things that others can do with technology that I just do not bother to figure out. In the same way, there are many things in the Kingdom of God that a lot of people just do not choose to partake of. In some cases it is because they just cannot see it, and in other cases it is because they have been blinded to it or just do not want it.

Jesus told Nicodemus that the light was right there in front of him. He was telling him not to let go and to keep on looking. I think Jesus told Nicodemus that he had done the right thing to come to the light and that others would see that he did what God wanted.

If you can see the Kingdom you are blessed! Keeping walking in the light! If you cannot see it, look to Jesus and He will guide you. Yes! Behold the Lamb of God.
