CHANGE

I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already completely destroyed.(Malachi 3:6) NLT

Have you ever considered that Christmas is really all about change. God does not change so that we have an opportunity to change. The promise of Jesus Christ is the same forever. Whoever believes in Him can have life. We were once in darkness but we can now change to light. We were slaves to unrighteousness, but now we can change to righteousness. We once were selfish but now we can change and be giving. Or we were bitter, but we can change and be sweet. What change can you think of for yourself?

We watched the latest version of Scrooge(A Christmas Carol) last night. And the story was the same. A look at how things had been, how they are and how they will be if things do not change. We rejoiced as Scrooge changed. He made the right choice. In fact even before he actually had the opportunity he was asking if he could change things.

As long as we have breath, we can change things. As long as our minds function, we can change them. Sadly, some prefer not to change, but for them I can only say, “God help them to see.” The focus here is that change is possible and necessary.

No one ever would have believed that Scrooge could change, or that he would if he could. But when he took a real look at himself he did. It may have been the same for many of you. Even people who prayed for me, could not believe that I changed when I did. But that is what Jesus is all about. Change!!

As I awoke this morning, that was what God was saying to me. “It is about change.” Do I need to change? Yes! Can I change? Yes! Will I change? Yes. This is what we have to ask, and these must be our answers.

We all need to change. We can all become more like Jesus. We can all love more, be more caring, kind, and forgiving, and well the list could go on and on. Sometimes we know we should change, but we just don’t think we can. The truth is, we can change, if we want to! God sent His Son and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to empower us to do just that. Change! We can be transformed by the renewing of our minds. For many people, just the revelation that change is possible is all that it takes.

As for will we change, that is a decision that we make individually. If we say, “yes I will change. Change me Lord.” Then we can be sure that change is on the way. Jesus birth changed the whole world, and your life can do the same. You may think that is a rather large statement, but it is true. As you change, you reveal more of Jesus to the world. He in turn changes others, and you just never know what can happen. May we all enter the New Millennium changed and changing. God bless you all.
