CHANGING LIVES
This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is changing lives everywhere, just as it changed yours that very first day you heard and understood the truth about God's great kindness to sinners. (Colossians 1:6 NLT)
Back in Jesus day, everyone was very aware that they were sinners. They knew the Law and those who did not know the Law were made aware of it by the religious folks. Today, many prefer not to use the “sin” word, but we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. To those who recognize this fact, the gospel is in deed Good News. Those who are forgiven much love much.
So then, are you a bearer of the Good News? According to this, the Good News is going out all over the world. What part are you playing in that? Are you praying? You should. Your prayers are powerful. Oh yes they are! Are you sharing the Good News? Are you experiencing the Good News? You can and you should. Is your life a revelation of the Good News? The truth is there are a lot of people who know about God, who have no idea what the Good News is. They have not experienced God’s presence, or at least they are not aware that it was God if they have.
This scripture says that the Good News is not only going all over the world, but it is changing people’s lives. The Good News is intended to change our lives. When we were first saved, people tried to tell us to be careful. They said we were going too far with this religion stuff. That was the problem. They saw it as religion, but we were experiencing a new life. When people thought we were going to far, we were just getting started!
Some people do not want their lives to change. Others do not believe that anything can change their lives. God won’t force changes, but He enables us to change. Those who doubt that anything can help will experience change when they understand the truth about the Good News. God has set in motion everything that is needed for everyone to experience abundant life. Jesus said that He came that we might have that kind of life. If He came for that purpose, then He will see to it that we experience it. Remember, He said that all things were possible if we only believe in Him. Jesus is our abundance.
What is the point of all this? Has the Good News changed your life? Have you allowed God to do those things that He wants with your life? If you have not experienced a change, it is time that you did. I knew some people once who said your life did not need to change. You just needed to say a prayer and be born again. That indicates a new life to me. What do you want God to accomplish for your life? What do you want Him to change? Go to Him and tell Him you want to know the truth of the Good News. Tell Him you want to experience changes in your life. Tell Him you are sorry you have resisted change and that from now on you will flow in the Spirit of God. When we do this, we discover that the Good News spreads through us in word and in deed.
