CHRIST IN YOU
To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27 NKJ)
When you think about it, it makes perfect sense that everything we could ever need is right inside of us. Yes, if a person knows the Lord, loves the Lord, and is born again, He is in us. He is perfect, and He lacks nothing! Our hope then is fulfilled when we, by faith, stir up the gift that is in us.
I was praying for some people and wanted clarification from the Lord as to how to pray. Do I call for healing for them? Do I command healing upon them? What do I do? Well, I heard God say, “In you.” From that I began to understand that as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and as one in whom He dwells, my healing resided on the inside of me.
The same would be true for everyone else who has trusted in God for salvation. Jesus has taken up residence on the inside of us, so it is a matter of receiving from Him and He lives on the inside. That should be pretty simple! Sometimes it is. But then other times I believe we all struggle. To be honest, we usually struggle from the wrong perspective.
Instead of pressing in closer to the Lord and struggling for our spot, we often get tricked into struggling against Him. We begin to doubt. We begin to question. We begin to agree with the enemy that God is a wee bit unpredictable. When this happens it throws us off track when we come to the next obstacle. The next thing you know we are declaring that it must not be God’s will to heal, protect, deliver, or provide for us.
That is like saying that it must actually be God’s will that some people perish! Even though He clearly stated the opposite, He must have meant something different.
God has chosen to reveal to us that our salvation dwells in us richly. He has left it up to us to work out the fullness of it. An old song has come to my mind recently as I have sought God. Some of you will remember it. The chorus says, “I’m leaving it all up to you. You decide what you’re going to do.” God has freely given us all things. What are we going to do with them?
So for those who do not know God, we release the blessing. We call for healing. For those who know God but may be feeling weak, we build them up reminding them of the power that is in them in Christ.
This is why we rely on one another. This is why we pray for one another. This is why when we are weak; we must reach out for help in our struggle toward God and not stand back and struggle against Him. He is not standing far off. He is in you. You are a temple of the Holy Ghost.
