CHRISTMAS
Today your savior was born in David's town. He is Christ, the Lord. (Luke 2:11 ERV)
As we previously looked into the players in the original Christmas story, we had the opportunity to consider what role or roles we might play. Prayerfully we do not find ourselves playing the king at this time, but we may have to consider that occasionally we do our best to quench the truth when it does fit our desires.
We also need to consider how welcoming we are to the Holy Spirit of God and whether we give Him a place to stay or turn Him away. And of course we need to determine if we simply seek for a time and then go home and go on studying something else. Do we go our way rejoicing and keep on rejoicing. As I have considered these things, my list of roles to be played has expanded to Simeon and others as well. I pray that this stimulates you to consider these same things and have no doubt that God will give you even greater revelation.
In the midst of my considering, I read a statement that said, “Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord who is with you. Don’t fear or be dismayed.” It was a paraphrase of Moses’ statement at the sea side. However, when I first read it, I read it as poison yourselves, which brought me to attention and when I read it again I thought how we can do one or the other. We can position ourselves to see the salvation and glory of God or we can in fact poison ourselves and miss it.
We can turn and look at the burning bush or we can pass it by. We can seek and keep seeking or we can poison ourselves with excuses. We can welcome the Lord into every situation and circumstance or we can poison ourselves and be selective of where we allow Him.
We can hear the angels message and go and see, or we can poison ourselves and reduce it to a seasonal story that has nothing to do with our lives.
This is a great season to position ourselves to behold the salvation of the Lord. We can position ourselves by declaring what God says about every circumstance. We can affect nations as well as our lives simply by positioning ourselves right in the middle of God’s will.
Or, we can poison ourselves with any of a number of things that influence us away from the salvation of the Lord. We can position ourselves for healing, deliverance, peace, protection, prosperity, and blessing simply by believing the message that our savior was born and then following Him like we should, because our lives to depend on Him.
So, are we positioning or poisoning with the roles we choose to play. May we all be position people and not ones who poison ourselves and others.
