CIRCUMCISION
God also gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision at that time. (Acts 7:8a NLT)
When I was first led to this verse it seemed like a strange thing especially with all that has gone on in country this week. But I just could not brush it off so I felt it was most definitely the Lord’s plan that I get out of it what He intended. This is the beginning of what I have found. As you read in Genesis 17 you find that circumcision was a confirmation of the covenant that they would bear in their flesh. It was not however something that would be seen all the time. For the most part, it was truly between them and God. Only in their nakedness would it ever be open to the public view.
If you read in the New Testament in Romans you see that the circumcision of the heart is the important thing. Or in Colossians it speaks of the cutting away of the sinful nature. The physical covenant was not one that was always visible, but the spiritual one is.
It is in tragic times such as these that the whole world is suddenly looking for answers. It is especially at times like these that we have opportunity to reveal the goodness of God. It is also times like these that reveal whether we have any faith or not.
For you see, everyday there are things that come about that basically expose us to those around us. It could be in a business dealing, a conversation with someone or about someone, an episode in our home, or any of a number of situations. If you think about it you will come up with many more examples. If we live daily in obedience to God, when bigger things come along it will be natural to respond the same way.
This is a tragic time in our nation and we who are called by His name must pray, and we must reveal the benefits of a relationship with Jesus Christ through circumcised hearts. I have heard some strange things said by men of God trying to blame this on many different things. This is not what the people need to hear. They need to hear of the great and only solution. They need to hear that God cares and that He sent Jesus to make a way for all people. There is no doubt that there is sin in the world, but God’s first concern is in His house.
If we want our land healed, God said we are the ones who need to pray and turn from our wicked ways. We need to search our hearts and consider what we reveal when we are exposed. We need to repent and then we need to pray. And if we do, we can trust God to do what He has promised. May God bless our leaders and may God bless America and all who come along side our great country. And may God bless you and give you peace.
