CIVILIAN OR SOLDIER

Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to successfully resist and stand your ground in the evil day of danger, and having done everything that the crisis demands, to stand firm in your place, fully prepared, immovable, and victorious. (Ephesians 6:13 AMP)

We have a standing army to protect the civilians in our nation. It would not be a good idea for a civilian to drop into a war zone to attempt to fight because they have not trained for it. War is very hard on civilians.
All Christians are enlisted in the army of the Lord. At least, that is the way the enemy sees it. We are marked as combatants. We are sealed by God for victory, but that same seal is seen by the devil as one who needs to be destroyed.
So if we are Christians we need to put on the full armor and expect to fight the good fight of faith. It would seem that we often fall into the trap of thinking that the battle is someone else’s battle to fight. We may be able to disguise ourselves as civilians to the world, but we are still marked in the eyes of the devil for destruction.
My bride and I enjoyed a motorcycle ride recently. When we ride, it is important that I pay attention to where we are going and what I am doing. I keep my hands on the handle bars most of the time and pay special attention on curves and hills and of course to the traffic around us.
As we went up hills and around the curves, I helped to guide the bike and did well, however the truth is that it was smoother when I let the bike do it. I have found that when I just rode along, the bike makes the curves more smoothly than when I tried to drive. I guess you could say that is why you ride a motorcycle. A person has to learn to trust the bike.
Of course I paid attention but it was mostly to be amazed by the way we were taken along on the ride. I saw a picture of faith in that. We need to pay attention in our walk with God. We need to be prepared like good soldiers. We need to learn to trust the Lord!
If we do this, we will be amazed to see how the battle goes. We will be observers of His amazing ways. God sent Jehoshaphat out to battle with praise and the people saw the enemy defeated. He told Moses to raise the staff and behold the glory of God. He tells us to stand in His armor as His soldiers.
Civilians get hurt. Soldiers win battles. Are we civilians or solders? The battle is not really ours, it is Gods. Still, we need to be prepared. We need to be watching. We need to be praying. We need to be praising. We need to be trusting and trustworthy. We need to be riding along in the presence and power of God. We must know our place and stand firmly in it. Christians are soldiers, not civilians!
