CLEANSING
For they shall see my Servant beaten and bloodied, so disfigured one would scarcely know it was a person standing there. So shall He cleanse many nations.(Isaiah 52:15 TLB)
The first thing that struck me about this passage in the Living Bible was the thought of my Lord so beaten and bloodied that He could hardly be recognized as a person. Besides the reminder of all that He went through for me, I thought of the how it could be looked at as part of a Christians personal experience with Christ. It is a fact, that when Christ comes and begins to change a persons life, often times those around them will not recognize them as the person they new before. I have even heard testimonies where people’s physical countenances were so changed that those who knew actually had to ask if it was really them. Fortunately for us, we do not have to be beaten and bloodied.
Another thought that came to mind was, “How much am I willing to go through for the cause of Christ.” I know that I would never deny Him, but would I put myself in danger for the sake of others. I believe I would, but I will be honest and say that my word to God would be, “Lord I am willing, but if You will, please arrange it so I do not have to!”
Then we look at the portion that says, so will He save many nations. One way to look at that is to say, this made provision for who ever would call upon His name, to be saved. And to that we say a great big thank you Jesus. In these verses, it also recorded that, many shall be amazed when they see Him–yes, even far-off foreign nations and their kings; they shall stand dumbfounded, speechless in His presence. For they shall see and understand what they had not been told before. Now we could say that nations will beaten and bloodied into submission, and if fact some will. Another thought might be to look at the result of people being saved and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Jesus did say that it would be better for us if He went away, for He would pray for the Father to send the comforter. And thanks be to God, He did!
And now, we have an outpouring of the Holy Spirit all over the world. And people are seeing and believing things that they have never been told. Many countries that do not embrace the gospel are opening their doors because of the Love of God that ministries are spreading through feeding bodies and spirits. Notable miracles are being done, and the stage is being set for nations to be saved in a day.
All that Jesus went through, He did so that the ultimate plan of God would be finished. And so it was on that day when our Lord was so abused and murdered for our sins. Now He has given us the privilege of walking out the rest of the plan.
So, Will we be changed? Will we suffer if necessary? Will we walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit so that the world will stand amazed and believe what they have never been told?
