COME TO ME

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."(Mat. 11:28)

The answer is simple. “Come to Me.” This was the constant message of Jesus. He said that He and the Father were one. He said if you have seen Me, you have seen the Father. He said we should just have faith. He said we could do anything if we would just believe that He was who He said He was.

Once we get past all of our ideas that God might be part of the problem we have a wide open door to move into the flow of what Jesus began to do when He walked this earth. He came to destroy the works of the enemy, not to destroy you! He is on our side. He is our leader. He is the Captain of the Hosts! Have you ever heard that chorus that says “we are following in His footsteps and no foe can stand against us in the fray?”

It is true that we have been made more than conquerors and that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We do not really need to wander through a maze of spiritual how to go about its if we will only believe, but what ever it takes, that is what we should do. Remember, it is worth the effort.

I was reminded again this week of how often people try to explain why God just may be the source of a problem instead of being sure He has good plans for them. I guess that makes sense when you consider that people are often times programmed to expect the worst. Thinking that God is planning our failure is about the worst thing anyone could imagine. This kind of thinking really has no place in the life of a follower of Jesus Christ. God gets enough blame everywhere else; He should be praised on our part. I sure would hate to hear that my children thought I was evil or that I want bad things for them.

When Paul was writing to Timothy, he was quick to point out that God delivered him out of all the things that happened to him. There will most certainly be things that come about in our lives as a result of the evil that still works in the world. Everyone experiences it! But we must remember that we have the solution for it. We should take the advice that Jesus gave and go to Him!

You’ve got a friend. A good number of people might be reminded of the James Taylor song from the past when they see those words. There was a lot of truth in the lyrics of that song. Imagine Jesus singing it to you. “Just call out my name, and you know where ever I am, I’ll come running to see you again.” The great thing about Jesus is that we never get out of His sight.

I have to tell you that just sharing these words with you has reminded me again of just how silly it is for me to hesitate for even a moment before going right to Jesus with everything. He can give me rest from wrong thinking or speaking, just as easily as He can heal all my diseases and provide for all my needs. No matter how big of a circle we make getting there, this is the answer for abundant life.
