CONTINUE IN THE FAITH

...They strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that they must enter into the Kingdom of God through many tribulations. (Acts 14:22)

Have you ever been in a situation where you knew that you were following God’s directions but you could not yet see the fruit or the benefit of it? I have been in lots of those places where the natural logic of things screamed stop, but God simply said, “Trust me.” So what do you do? I have to be honest and say that those times are trying times. I want only to please God, and yet I have to fight to hang in there with His plan. The very fact that I struggle makes me have to fight all the more to overcome condemnation because I want to just be able to fly right through those times. The turbulence is at times almost more than I can handle. But I remind myself that God is faithful even when I am not and He has never failed me before so He won’t start now.

The bottom line is that we have to continue in the faith, no matter what comes against us. Even if you fall away completely, pull yourself up and continue in the faith.

I am sure that there were times when Noah struggled with his assignment. Abraham’s walk of faith was no easy one either. We know Moses was fed up from time to time and there are others in the great hall of faith that we know battled their way through.

David loved God and always wanted to please Him. But David had a big falling away with Bathsheba, and yet was still a man after Gods own heart. All of these needed only to continue in the faith.

God tells us not to fear, not to be discouraged; just have faith. This of course is the best plan even though it is more often than not easier said than done. Still, it is a goal to shoot for. It is a target to keep our eye on. It is not impossible to get there we just need to continue in the faith. Each time we conquer fear, discouragement, or doubt, the stronger we become. The more times we see God prove Himself faithful, the more confidence we have for the next time. Each time we continue in the faith and press through to victory, we experience more of the Kingdom of God.

We know that even Jesus struggled in the garden and cried out from the cross, but for the joy set before Him he endured the cross. We know that Peter denied the Lord three times but then returned and continued in the faith and was used greatly by God.

No matter what we may be in the middle of, or what may come in the future, if we will determine right now that you are going to continue in the faith we can be sure that we will see the Kingdom of God at the end of it all. And then like me, you will wonder why you ever struggled because God never fails. For sure it is a battle when it is going on, but God never fails.
