COULD HE DO IT

And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes Lord." (Matthew 9:28 NKJ)

It was recently brought to my attention that we may very well miss a blessing from God simply because we consider the messenger rather than the message! In other words, we look at the source rather than “The Source.” If we judge what God can do according to our evaluation of the messenger, we certainly could miss a lot.

For instance; how many of us have cringed when someone has declared that God told them He would give back one hundred times their offering to everyone who gives to their ministry? The minute we reject the message because of the messenger we remove any possibility of the blessing. Jesus asked these men if they believed He could restore their sight and then He said according to your faith let it be done.

The result had everything to do with their belief in what He could do. So what do we believe He can do? Could God bless us with one hundred times our offering? Of course we know He could. Well at least we think He maybe could. Do we ever really expect Him to? Do we recognize it when He does?

How about this? Have you ever tested out the promise of a return on your investment in the Kingdom of God? If so, did you think big or small? Did you sow a little bit just to see if it would work, or did you sow a lot in faith believing? Have you received your return or have you given up on it? Did you determine that it could not work before you ever tried it and consequently you refuse to believe that it ever really works for anyone?

Go back to the beginning and ask yourself if you believe that He can do it. Then forget everything else and find out if it is something God is speaking to you about. The thing is, there may be two people out of a million who God speaks directly to through a particular promise, but just because we may not be one of those two, it does not necessarily need to keep us from benefitting when we sow in faith believing.

This is true of every promise of God, not just the financial ones. Have you ever reached out and touched the television screen when someone suggested you do it to receive your healing? Have you ever joined a group in reaching out toward the speaker in agreement for prayers to be answered? Did you expect a result? Did you receive a result? Did you refuse to do any of those things because you refuse to get caught up in such things?

If we are going to be honest, we all probably have to admit that we have had good and bad attitudes about the ideas presented here. I suggest we repent of the bad attitudes, and begin to use the, “Could Jesus do it,” test. Could it be possible? Would He do it? If so, why; if not, why not? This can be applied to good and bad situations. Would God make you sick? Would God be happy to see you fail? Would God burn your house down?

Make sure that you find your answers in God’s Word or from God’s mouth in prayer and do not rob yourself based on a bad attitude that you have developed on your own or learned from another. Do you believe Jesus could do it? Do you believe Jesus would do it? Get ready for a life change as you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in of this area of your life.
