CURSE FREE!!
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law...(Galatians 3:13NKJ)
Have you ever given much consideration to what a blessing it is to be free from the curse of the law? If you look at Deuteronomy chapter 28, you can read in the first 14 verses all of the blessings that God promises for obedience. If you read on, you can read all of the curses for failing to obey the voice of the Lord. It is a pretty dreadful list.
Well, according to Galatians 3:13, we have been set free from those curses! Does that mean that we do not have to obey God? Absolutely not!! It simply means that because of the sacrifice that Christ made; thanks to the covenant that he sealed with His own blood, we no longer are subject to the curses.
Are they still in the world? Obviously! Every dreadful thing that can be imagined and many that can not be imagined is going on in our world. And everyone is exposed to it. As followers of Jesus Christ, however, we have a refuge. We can dwell in the shelter of the Almighty!
So, does that mean nothing bad will ever happen to us again? Probably not, but knowing where to go to escape or who to call in order to be delivered can shorten the time in the fire. Speaking of fire, think of the three Hebrew men who were thrown into the furnace. They declared their faith that God could deliver, and even if He did not, they were still going to praise Him and no one else. Well, if you’ve read the story, you know that God did not fail them. They still went into the furnace, but Jesus was there to deliver them.
No matter what fire we may face, Jesus has made provision for us. I know that it all seems too simple to some and too confusing to others. But that is why we live by faith and not by sight. What we are trying to do here is open our spiritual eyes so that we can see how to apply our faith.
Jesus says that He has taken care of everything. He supplied the only sacrifice any of us will ever need in order to be in the family of God. Once we are in the family, He is our Father, and we are His children. We are His responsibility now. He has set us free from the curses that were in the law.
As you read the list of curses in Deuteronomy 28, you can probably find what you may be going through, or what you have been through, or what you may have lurking in the future. If it is not listed directly, you can surely relate some example to most anything in life. If you can believe it, the blood of Jesus has provided your deliverance. That same blood can help family, friends, and enemies to become friends.
Jesus said that if we could believe, all things were possible. I say, Lord help our unbelief and help us all to walk in the freedom that you have given us.
