DAMAGE REPAIR

I was crushed by their adulterous heart which has departed from Me. (Ezekiel 6:9b NKJ)

Have you ever considered spending time comforting God? In the middle of this word that the Lord was giving to Ezekiel for the people, He let them know that they had crushed Him. Because of this God was letting them know that there were some awful things coming in the future. I don’t believe for a minute that this was what God wanted for them however. All of these calamities were simply the result of moving out from under God’s umbrella. There was time for them repent if they would.

I felt so bad when I read this part. We all know how it feels to be crushed. It is no fun. Once again we are reminded that God has feelings. We must take into consideration that He is not just aloof and incapable of being hurt. He loves us and desires our love.

There is no way that God feels good about His children making poor choices. If you are a parent you know what it feels like to see your children suffer because of the things they do or say. Even if you are forced to punish them, it is not fun. It seems the worst thing I can possibly do to my daughters is take their cell phones away. Whenever we do this I feel just about as bad as they do. Even though they know this is our first line of correction, there have been times that their phones belonged to me!

The best thing they can do under those circumstances is find ways to repair the damage. The worst thing they can do is cop an attitude and be mad at me like it is my fault or something.

It is interesting to watch and see how often Christians will get themselves in a bind and then try to blame God for the problems they may be having. This just compounds the problem and crushes God’s heart.

Don’t we know that He wants only the best for His children? We want the best for ours and we are no where near as kind and loving and capable as God. With this in mind, what should we be doing? Should we be hoping for the worst for people who stray from God?

Often times this is the stance that church folks are guilty of taking. This attitude hurts God more than what the others are doing. Didn’t God love it when Moses would stand in the gap for the rebellious ones? I think we can do a great deal to repair the damage to the heart of God and restore our nation if we will stand in the gap.

Get rid of bitterness and keep from seeking revenge and pray that God will restore our great nation. This I believe will bless God’s heart. I just can’t stand to think of God’s heart being crushed. It was crushed enough as He watched Jesus suffer for us. Jesus gave His life for the will of the Father, we should do the same. Love repairs all.
