DECEIVED
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for what whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. (Galatians 6:7 NKJ)
I do not know of anyone who likes to be deceived, and yet we have all been deceived on one occasion or another. Spiritually we lived our lives deceived until we came to know Jesus Christ. Even then we may have been deceived into thinking that a set of rules or membership in the right place met the requirements of faith in God.
Others are deceived into believing that there is no God or that God is only for weak people. The list is long when it comes to being deceived. I am so glad that the list of truth is a short one. There is but one true God and only one way to Him and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ. Then, who the son sets free is free indeed.
You of course know all of this and by now may not even be interested in reading the rest, but I pray that you will because the greatest deception that people can fall into is thinking that once we know the truth we will never be deceived again.
If you do not know it already, I want to tell you that the deception game is really on once we do come to know the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We truly to do not wrestle against flesh and blood; we are at war with the greatest deceiver of all time. His goal is to keep us from the Kingdom of God and from taking others along with us deeper into the truth of God’s love and God’s ways.
In Galatians, Paul was amazed that the people who had been doing so well and who had been following the guidance of the Holy Spirit were being deceived and taken into bondage once again. He challenged them to search themselves and to return to the truth that had set them free.
It is so sad to see Christians who were once free all loaded down again. We must understand that if we keep our burdens we are deceived. We have been deceived into believing that we can carry the burden and that God does not care to help us. Or we are deceived into believing that our way is better than God’s or that we will just go ahead and do it our way and work things out with God later. Of course the only way it works out later is if we open our eyes and do it God’s way!
It is a waste of time for us to ever try and second guess God. However, until we finally cast aside every other way of thinking, we will continually be susceptible to the wiles of the devil. He may be defeated, but he is still good at what he does. Only the truth can defeat him.
We are living in times where it is more important than ever to walk in the truth. Join me is asking the Lord to reveal to us any areas in our lives where we may be deceived so that we can turn back to the truth.
