DEITY DEFICIENT

You are good and do good; teach me your statutes. (Psalm 119:68 NKJ)

What is going on in our world today? I believe we are suffering from a lack of God. I realize that there are a lot of symptoms and people are doing the best they know how to treat them, but the root of the disease is in the deficiency of our God supply. Some of course would say that it is just not that simple, but I firmly believe He is the solution to all of our problems.

Occasionally we watch the show “House” on television. House is a doctor and he and his team study symptoms and diagnose diseases. They wade through the many symptoms in order to find the source and ultimately the cure. If you look on Web MD, you can find a multitude of sources that discuss symptoms and what causes them. When I was a young man participating in athletics, we would take salt tabs when we were sweating to help keep us from having cramps. I had no idea why, it was just what they said would help.

You can see advertisement after advertisement of products and drugs that are designed to help different maladies, but of course the reactions to them may be worse than what they are supposed to treat! Still there are billions of dollars spent on research in attempt to keep us healthy and it seems we are sicker than ever! The point is that we go to great lengths in an attempt to treat and to supply whatever area of our lives that we find ourselves to be deficient. The world needs God!

As Christians we must be thoroughly convinced that God is the solution to all deficiencies. Some people see the problems today as God attacking, but I see it as a world that is God lacking! It stands to reason that if we push the protector and provider far enough away there will be a price to pay. Yes even Christians will have problems in midst of it all. However, if we keep our eyes on Christ, we will have opportunities to survive and thrive and in midst of the destruction. There are no victories without some battles. There are spoils to be gathered, so let’s get at it.

I am sure some Christians were scammed right along with everyone else in the frauds that have taken place. I am just as certain that there are some who removed their investments before it fell apart. Either way, the key is to keep praising God and not start blaming God. If we will pray and seek His face our nation can yet be blessed. Remember scripture says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” We can overcome this deficiency. This is not the time to give up; this is the time to stand up and declare that the Lord is God and that He is ready, willing, and able to restore all things that are good and right. This is a time for the weak to say, “I am strong,” and the poor to say; “I am rich because of what the Lord has done.” I don’t know how He does everything; I just know He is faithful. May His glory fill all of the earth!
