DEMONSTRATED POWER
And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength... (Ephesians 1:19 Amp)
I think it would be safe to say that God has put on some pretty great demonstrations of power. There are always those who try to explain away the things of God, but over time we continue to see that God is true and every other theory is just a theory.
Recently God spoke to me about demonstrations and then confirmed that word leading me to this verse in Ephesians. Here God is speaking of how He raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him in His heavenly place.
When God first spoke of demonstrations, I thought about people who demonstrate things in malls and fairs or only on TV! You know exactly what I am talking about don’t you? We have all watched amazed at what some of those gadgets will do. Most of us have purchased them and found out they did not work quite as well for us as they did the person who demonstrated them. Why do they work so much better for the demonstrators than they do for us when we get them home?
As much as I would like to think it just that theirs is the only model that works as well as the demonstrator makes it work, I believe the fact is that they are all the same. We just do not operate them as well. Somehow we get the idea that it will automatically work just as well for us once we get it home. What happens when it doesn’t? Well we could take it right back to the person we bought it from and tell him it is defective, but more than likely he would make ours work the exact same way his did.
So then what happens? More often than not, we put them in the cupboard or the garage until they end up in a garage sale or at the dump. There are a small percentage of people that read and practice until theirs works just as good as the demonstrator model. The item was capable of everything that was demonstrated, the difference was in the person using it. Do you see where we are headed here?
As we have said, Jesus was the example that gave us a sample. Jesus demonstrated the power of God working through a person. Then God gave the ultimate demonstration of His power in us and for us when He raised Christ from the dead. That same power has transformed all who believe in Jesus. We get the whole package to take home and make it work.
Does everything work just the way it should right away? If not, is it a defective model that God has given us? Of course not! The problem is that we give up when everything does not go just like we want. We put those ideas on the shelf and begin to doubt that it works at all. God wants us to shake off those ideas and become demonstrators of His power. Don’t give up. It works. Jesus said so!
