DEPRIVED OF POWER
For I have overcome the world.[I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.](John 16:33b The Amplified Bible)
It is always exciting to discover the truth of God’s Words. They truly are a treasure. This week I discovered John 16:33 in the Amplified Bible. Jesus said that He had overcome the world. We all know He overcame, but sometimes we have a little problem transferring that victory to ourselves. We all find ourselves feeling a little less than on top of everything from time to time. The thing that made me want to shout, was the fact that in Jesus victory, He deprived the world of the power to harm us and conquered it for us already. That is what it says!! Read it for yourselves in the Amplified Bible.
Jesus did what He did whether I feel powerful or not. It is not anything that I do that makes me the conqueror. He has already done it. I am simply called to walk in what He has done for me. The same is true for you.
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. We have His power, His love, and a sound mind to put it all to good use. So then, it is not so much that I have to be so powerful, I simply have to realize that Jesus has removed the power of the world to harm me. The same is true for you.
The world is influenced by the one who comes to steal and kill and destroy. The devil uses the things of the world in an attempt to destroy Christians. Jesus knew that there would be tribulation coming at us, so He told us not to worry. No matter what may come at us, it is powerless to harm us. Shortly after He told the disciples and us this truth, He went into the garden and proved it . When the soldiers came to arrest Him and He told them He was the one they were looking for, what happened? They all fell back. They had no power to harm Him, until He gave it to them. It was necessary for Him to let them take Him, so He could seal our victory, once and for all.
It will take some rethinking for us all to walk in all that Jesus offers us in this verse. But it will certainly be worth the effort. It is nice to know that nothing depends upon how powerful we are in Christ. It is just how powerful He is. Add to that then, the fact that the enemy has been rendered powerless, and we can begin to walk in all the confidence that Jesus intended. He intended that we walk just like He did. He truly knew what it was to walk in NO FEAR!
This is another of those truths, that will increase our freedom. Take some time to meditate on how much easier things will be, knowing that nothing has any power to harm you. It can come at you, but it will have to fall back. You can be sure that the enemy will try to resist you and convince you that this is not true. But Jesus never lied and this is what He said and is still saying to all who have ears to hear.
