DOES GOD

I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the Law of Moses? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ. (Galatians 3: 5 NLT)

I want to use this scripture to point out a couple things and also to ask a couple questions. First of all, this scripture makes it clear that God gives the Holy Spirit to those who believe what they hear concerning Christ. We know that scripture says that God gives the Holy Spirit to all who ask. So then, if we have the Holy Spirit, it stands to reason that there is great potential power in everyone who believes. So a question I have is why don’t we let Him do more of what He is good at?

This scripture also makes it clear that the Holy Spirit works miracles among us. He is doing a lot of things that we do not even recognize, but I am convinced that there is a lot more He can and would do, if we would only believe that He is ready to do them. We can watch people on the TV and see great miracles occurring and wish it would happen where we are. There are also those who see and hear about miracles and choose to doubt that they really take place. Why would we do that? Why don’t we just get so excited about it that we challenge God to do the same for us? I really think that is what God would like for us to do.

Okay, so here is a question. Have you received the Holy Spirit? Answer: If you have asked, then you have. If you have received the Holy Spirit, then you have the power of God resident in you. And here is some great news. His power is not dependant upon your performance. He can do all that God wants if we will just trust what He says. Simple child like faith can move mountains. Don’t complicate it. Just believe it.

Next question: Is God doing miracles among you? Do you want Him to do miracles? Some of the miracles will involve changes in us. Are we willing to have God to do that in order for there to be more miracles around us?

So then the simple truth is that God sent His Son to die for us and take away the penalty for our sins. All who believe that and receive Christ are saved. They also receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is powerful and ready to perform the works of God in and through us just as He did in Christ’s life. If we believe this then we can expect God to do miracles among us. God does those miracles to reveal Himself to others who have not yet come to know Him.

God is ready to do miracles. God is ready to save, heal, deliver, and fill the multitudes with his Holy Spirit. May we all be vessels who are anxious to be mirrors of His glory.
