DON'T MISS IT

“Because you put your trust in the king Aram instead of the Lord your God, you missed your chance to destroy the army of the king of Aram.” (2 Chronicles 16:7 NLT)

Oh my! How often do we miss opportunities for victory because we forget that God is faithful? For the most part we do not do it maliciously or with a lot of for-thought we just do it! We can be like Asa and rolling along with everything falling into perfect place and then all of a sudden there we are at a cross roads and we forget which path to follow.

Even though we have been down the road many times and naturally chose the right path, all of a sudden we find ourselves on a wrong path. It would make no sense at all if we did not know God and understand that there is an enemy out there trying to keep us from Him.

For those who do not know God, they really have no explanation for being one way one moment and totally the opposite the next. As for me, I thought I might be going crazy when the enemy began to fight for my soul. I tried to explain it to myself as being the artist in me coming out. I think something was coming out, but it was no artist!

It was at that point that I took the opportunity to defeat the armies of the devil. There were many other opportunities before that, but I never took them. I did not even see them as opportunities until my eyes were opened after the initial victory. Now God is showing me how we continue to win and lose as we walk with Him. We always have the opportunity to choose the life He offers, but the choice is ours. Consequently, we often end up fighting an enemy over and over until we finally trust God and destroy that enemy.

Only you know what those particular enemies are in your life. They can have a wide range of names, but their source in the same. Anything that is stealing from you, killing relationships or health, or destroying your hope and faith is not from God.

God offers us the opportunity to destroy those things every time they come at us. We can render them unable to prosper in our lives and all we need to do is trust the Lord. Understand, that just because we render them helpless, that does not mean they disappear, or that they won’t try to find another way to attack. They know their destruction is eminent; they just die hard sometimes.

However, as we diligently lay the axe to their root we become stronger, our confidence grows, and we win the victory. We are also more fit for the next attack. In Asa’s case, when he left that enemy stand, he left himself open to more doubt. He rejected the words of the prophet, ceased to seek God and ultimately, even when he was sick, he did not go to God for healing and died. So be wise and be aware, and do not miss opportunities for victory. Recognize that when it seems the enemy is too big, God has simply put him in a place to be destroyed.
