DON'T STOP NOW
All of these things are for your benefit. And as God's grace brings more and more people to Christ, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. (2 Cor. 4:15)
Thanksgiving Day is over, but thanking God should never end. As we steam into the Christmas celebration, we should be picking up momentum. We should be shopping! Yes it is okay to shop! Christians should be the happiest and most generous people around, because we know what the celebration is all about. We also must be certain that our shopping is not limited to things that wear out.
We should be browsing for people who are in need of the greatest gift of all, and that is life in Christ Jesus. Never give up on the purpose for which you were saved. God’s Spirit is moving all over the world and many people are receiving grace and are open to hearing the good news. Christmas is about Christ. We do not need to be combatant about getting that word out, we simply must be ready at all times to express the hope that is in us.
God is so good and He has so much to offer to everyone who will call upon the Name of Jesus. That is why every day is a day to be alert, for we do not know when we will come across someone who’s heart is longing for our savior. They may not know for sure what they need, but they are looking for something. I think I would be very safe in saying that many people who left home looking for a Christmas gift ended up finding the greatest gift of all and it was free.
Friends, there is nothing wrong with sharing the good news with others. We are not like some religion that wants to kill everyone who will not join them. We are offering life and peace and joy to anyone who wants it. It is not considered wrong to stop and help someone change their tire or to help someone carry something that is too heavy for them to carry. Every now and the then the news will even a carry a story about someone who was kind and helped someone.
Isn’t that exactly what Christ has called us to do? We all know that the good news relieves our burdens. No one can carry the burden of sin alone. No one can really handle all of their own sorrow. There are so many things burdening people today and many of them are ready to cast their burdens somewhere.
I pray that every Christian, everywhere in the world, will experience a renewed determination to share the good news of the goodness of God. You can give this liberally and you will never run out. In fact, you will be strengthened and refreshed each time that you care enough to share. If we all do this, more and more people will come to Christ and God will receive more and more glory.
