DOUBT FREE
Jesus answered, "Have faith in God. The truth is, you can say to this mountain, go, mountain, fall into the sea. And if you have no doubts in your mind and believe that what you say will happen, then God will do it for you". (MARK 11:22-23 ERV)
This passage of scripture sounds way too simple and way too difficult. We tend to think that it cannot be that simple, while at the same time we declare that it is too difficult not to doubt. Fortunately, God is patient and gives us as much time as we need to choose what we will decide to do.
I was thinking about this and realizing that in the dream about being in a place and learning what was in that place, I was given time to learn not to doubt. It is much like when Israel was in the wilderness, God proved time and time again that He was faithful and it would seem they had more than enough evidence to convince them not to doubt, but they always seemed to turn it around and blame God for something rather than thank Him for all He had done.
There is no doubt that we are often the same way. Rather than declaring how great God is and thanking Him for what He has done and being assured that He will continue to do great things, we tend to forget what He has done and question why He is not doing what we want.
We need to learn to get in the groove with what God is doing! We need to believe that what He says is the final word. This only comes from spending time with Him. It is in spending time with Him that we get to know Him and learn to trust Him. This is of course a never ending process, but it is well worth our effort.
Paul said that we needed to cast down imaginations that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God. Doubt is one of the very worst imaginations. We need to learn to recognize doubt as it forms in our minds and reject it before we give voice to it.
Remember how Israel voice their doubts and fears but then tried to do something different. They had already given voice to the devil’s lie and ended up paying a price. God is not out to extract a price from us, but unbelief opens wrong doors and it often takes time to get back to what God really wants for us. In Israel’s case it took another forty years to make it right, I believe we can be much quicker than that.
We must determine in our hearts to be free from doubts. There are a lot of things we can doubt, but God and His promises should never find a place on our list of things to doubt. Lord, today, by faith, we declare ourselves doubt free. Holy Spirit we give you free reign to help us to recognize and destroy doubt before it can have any say in our lives. We do this all in the wonderful name of Jesus by the power of His blood sacrifice. Amen!
