DULL AND INDIFFERENT

Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance. (Hebrews 6:12 NLT)

Keep your faith active. Keep seeking. Keep knocking. Keep asking. Guard against dull and indifferent. Keep your eyes on the prize. Keep yourself in the love of God! God’s promises are true. He never fails. Never! What God says He will do, He will do. If we lose sight of that, we will begin to focus on the time involved in His answers to our prayers and if we do not see what we want, dull and indifferent may move in.

Why do some people appear to have greater faith? Why doesn’t God answer my prayers? Why bother? Well, it is not a bother to pray! It is a privilege to pray. We are told to pray at all times in all things, and then leave it with God. God assures us that He cares for us.

What do you hope for? What is our greatest desire? Is our relationship with God at the top of our list? Or is what we can get from God at the top of our list?

We always have God. He will never leave us or forsake us. That is exciting. Just thinking about that should stir us up. When we are not seeing God working, we know that He is! Remember these things. Speak them to yourself and to others. Keep the important things important in your life.

Don’t allow dull and indifferent to turn into doubt and deceit. Do whatever you must do in order to keep loving and believing.

If you find yourself wondering and questioning the goodness of God, watch out because wandering is waiting at the door. Wondering and wandering make doubting easy. Doubting is simply questioning the promises of God.

If we doubt, we let go of the importance of praying. Prayer is connecting with God. What joy there is in making that connection. Imagine, when you pray, you can say, “I have been with God.” What could be better than that?

That encourages me. Does it encourage you? It might be just for a moment or for a long time, but when you pray, you are with God. You are not just talking to God; you are with God. Like Jacob said, God is in this place. Jesus said, the Father and I are one. He also said we are one.

How could we possibly be indifferent about this? When we read the Bible, we see amazing things that God did and that Jesus did, and they are still doing it. Oh Lord, thank you that we are with you and that you are with us. Glory to God.
