ENCOURAGEMENT
Think about what we have in Christ: the encouragement he has brought us, the comfort of his love, our sharing in his Spirit, and the mercy and kindness he has shown us. (Philippians 2:1)
God is an encourager! He would never try to discourage. Even when He is pointing out areas of failure, He encourages us to keep going.
You see it is not about us following Him perfectly, it is about us presenting ourselves to Him for the perfecting of our souls. Remember, we are the clay and He is the potter. Our part is to not resist the Holy Spirit.
God said we would be perfect even as He is perfect. It is discouraging if we think that means we perfect ourselves. We all know that we come short of His perfection, but we have His encouragement that it will happen.
When the load is too heavy, He does not stack on problems, He says we should yoke up with Him and He will carry it. Have you ever helped someone carry something and they took they took the heavy end and you felt like you were not helping much. God always takes the heavy end if we will let Him.
He tells us that He will strengthen with His strong right arm and carry us in the palm of His hand. What do we have to do? We simply need to get on.
Often times in the winter when I am on my tractor moving snow I will see someone with a shovel trying to move a big ridge left by the plows. On very few occasions I have had people wave me on; most of the time they back up and in a couple of minutes what would have taken hours is out of the way. I remember when I did not have a tractor I used to hope someone would stop with theirs. When God pulls up to help, we should just step out and let Him do what He can do. How encouraging to think that He is only a call away.
The ultimate encouragement we have in Christ is Christ Himself; That God would send Him and that He would come! They did not formulate that great plan to guilt us into the Kingdom of God, they formulated it to encourage all people everywhere that the call is to everyone and that this plan works without fail.
There is no need to calculate a failure rate. Life insurance companies try to calculate the odds on how long a person will live with all extraordinary circumstances considered so that it will work best to their benefit. God promises a plan that works for our benefit at His expense.
In every situation no matter the circumstances, if we will look for the Lord’s encouragement and then go ahead and receive it, we will find that He will do in a moment what our stressing forever would not have helped one bit. Christ is the key.
