ENJOY THE LORD

Oh the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked or stand around with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.(Psalm 1: 1-2)

There are so many scriptures that speak of enjoying the Lord and the joy that the Lord gives, that we really need to ask ourselves if we enjoy the Lord. As a rule, we enjoy the people and things that we care about. God wants us to enjoy Him. He wants us to delight in Him.
Rejoice in the Lord oh you righteous. God has made us the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit reveals that to us. It is no wonder that Jesus said that those who are forgiven much, love much!
I was listening to someone recently who was taking note of the fact that people did not seem to have the hunger for God that they once had. I think this is because many have never learned to enjoy God or have lost the joy that God gives.
It seems that we want to be entertained but not convicted. We want to feel good about ourselves but not changed. Yet God says we are being changed from glory to glory. We should love the idea of going from glory to glory. Unfortunately the enemy has deceived us into believing that either change is not necessary or that change is too much to ask.
You know, when I have a flat tire it is easy to see that a change is beneficial. If we look, we may find that we are running around on a flat tire. We may be losing pressure and running low for a long time before we notice that it is flat. If you run too long on a flat tire, you will not only ruin the tire, but you will destroy the rim as well, and the longer you go the more destruction you may experience.
Perhaps I should have titled this check your pressure, but really, there is no pressure in God. He offers us plenty to enjoy if we will just stir up that gift that was given us by the Holy Spirit with our salvation.
We can expect the goodness of God in the land of living, but learning to anticipate is a joy maker. I recently spoke with a man who lives by the strangest ideas. He said, “No good deed goes unpunished,” and later added, “if something can go wrong it will!” He had just helped someone change a tire, and 20 miles later he broke down. Needless to say, I tried to encourage him, but he was pretty sure that was the way life goes.
Unfortunately, I often find people who believe in the existence of God looking at the God the same way. He is treated as an emergency number, and no one really wants to have to call 911. It is nice to know they can, but it is not a joy to think about. God is not an emergency number; He is the source of all joy. Think about this. Do you enjoy God?
