ENJOYING LIFE
I have told you these things so that you will be filled with My joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! (John 15:11 NLT)
Did Jesus enjoy His life? Of course He did! Did Paul enjoy his life in Christ? Of course he did! Are you enjoying your life in Christ? We should enjoy life. Jesus wants us to be filled with Joy. If that is what He wants, then we either are filled with His joy or we are refusing to be filled with His joy.
There is an old song that said “It’s bubbling, it’s bubbling, it’s bubbling in my soul.” All of the wonderful things that Jesus promised are there bubbling wanting to be set free in our lives. If this were not so, He would not have told us the things He told us.
We really can enjoy life, if we will refuse to focus on all the things that come to try and steal our joy. If we can only learn to use those things that come against the knowledge of God as a bumper that bumps us right into speaking the truth of God’s word.
If we say that we cannot do that, then what are really saying is that we will not do that because we do not believe that it really works. We simply do not trust the truth of God’s Word. I know it can be difficult, but I also know that His Word does not fail. Even if we are still waiting for the manifestation we cannot doubt that it is working.
We will never truly enjoy life the way that Jesus wants us to until we accept the whole package as it was presented by Him. I can remember a friend in Russia who told me on many occasions that he could not be happy. He said that their lives were so hard and that there was no way it could change. I continued to tell him that nothing else had to change except for his trust in what the Lord could do. Then came the day that I saw this man on a platform at a large meeting and I could hardly recognize him. He had a smile as wide as the stage and he was telling the people to rejoice in the Lord. He came to me and gave me a giant hug as he told me how wonderful the Lord was and how the joy of the Lord was his strength. He discovered that when he changed, it set things in motion to change the things around him. He opened the door for God to work His wonders.
Look at all that Paul suffered, and yet he said he had learned to be content in all things. That is joy my friends. That is joy that cannot really be explained. We must allow the joy of Jesus to spill over in our lives so that people have the opportunity to see what Jesus is all about. He is life. He is joy. Let us rejoice and be glad and give all glory unto Him.
