EVERY OPPORTUNITY

But this will give you an opportunity to tell about me. (Luke 21:13 ERV)

Every person who knows the Lord knows they are fortunate to know Him. I was thinking about this very thing and it occurred to me that no matter where a person is in the world. No matter what a person’s status or location; knowing Jesus is an amazing blessing.

I admit that I at times am just thankful that I live where I live and have what I have and I thank God. But you know, a person living on a garbage dump is just as aware of how wonderful the Lord is, and with understanding they can have hope and help to overcome and experience all that God has planned for them. In fact, I have read testimonies from people who we might think would feel impoverished who pray for those who appear to have much, that they would not lose sight of the goodness of God! Yes, people who live in what we would call undeveloped areas of the world are concerned for those of us who live in comfort.

The fact is, that we must all remember how blessed we are to know the Lord, and never lose our awareness of how much we need Him. This is what we need to express to people with our lives and our words. Sometimes Christians get so busy thinking about how much others need the Lord that we can forget how much we need Him.

John reminds us in chapter 16 of the Gospel of John, that the Holy Spirit will show people what is right or wrong and He will reveal the truth to those who Seek Him. To me, this just reinforced the fact that telling people about the Good News of the Kingdom is just that, telling the good news.

What has the Lord done for you? What does the Lord mean to you? Are you aware of how blessed you are? Does your life reveal how blessed you feel? Hey, I know that we can easily forget how blessed we are when everything is not going the way we want it to, but those are the times we need to remember to stop and think of Jesus. When we think of Him, we can think of what He promises. We can think of what He might do. We can think of how small things are compared to the greatness of knowing Him.

Listen. Do you hear that? It is the Holy Spirit bearing witness with your spirit, reminding you of just how great God is. The world needs to hear how good He is. They can figure out whether they need or want Him, based on what they see and hear.

A salesman who tries to tell you that you need something but has no good reason other than that he wants to sell you something, usually does not make a sale. However, a sales person who is interested in your needs and explains the benefits of a product and their own sincere appreciation of the product has a much better shot.

One thing that began to open my eyes was a friend who looked like he had won a great prize. I could see joy that made me wonder. When I asked what it was, He simply said it was Jesus. He did not say I needed Him. He simply said I should try Him. Ultimately I did! Oh how I need Him more each day. Holy Spirit make this make sense and help us to reveal a living wonderful Lord to the world around us.
