EVERYONE WILL KNOW
Then the Shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. (Luke 2:17 NLT)
Everyone who falls in Love with Jesus wants to be changed, and they want even more for people to notice the change because they want to be pleasing to the Lord. We know that Jesus told us to let our light shine before men so that they will see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven. The only problem with that is getting trapped into trying to figure out what we should do. Sometimes we get so caught up in doing things that we don’t have time to hear what God has in mind. After all there are lots of different people that are more than happy to tell us what we should do, and there is no doubt that many of the suggestions are good. We should however feel free to seek the Lord and make sure that it is what He wants us to do.
Well, after the shepherds had been to the manger to see the baby they were busy telling everyone about what the angels had said about this child. I can assure you, that once you have been to the manger people will talk! Some will advertise that you have gone crazy. Others will be amazed and blessed that you saw the light. In some instances, there are people ready to take you and use you as an advertisement of the goodness of God. So from the outside there will most certainly be lots of things coming at you. I believe the key to handling both the good and the bad is remembering the comfort that the manger provided.
Just as Jesus told Nicodemus that he had to be born again, and informed the woman at the well that those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth, the manger is where the new born is found. Everything that Jesus promised us comes as we receive it with child like faith. Adults won’t fit in a manger. Anyone who is too wise, too dignified, or too proud will never submit themselves to the changes that only God can make in our lives. Even as you read this the enemy may be telling you that you are too mature in the Lord to need to go back to the manger, but I say if you really are mature you will want to. We all need refreshing and renewing in the Spirit of God and we get that when we return to our first love.
There is nothing wrong with not having any idea what God wants for your life or from your life right now. If you have no idea, then you are open to what He has in mind. I have know people who just felt so inadequate because they thought everyone else knew exactly what God wanted of them from now until Jesus comes. To anyone who does know that I say, “WOW!” that is really great. But to those who do not know, I say don’t worry about it. Seek the Lord and you will find Him. And as you do, remember how God cared for that child in the manger.
He provided for his family in a town that was not their home. He sent wise men with gifts to pay for the trip they would take after the angel came and warned them to leave town. He took care of them until it was safe to return home and he told them when it was safe. God even allowed Him to die in order to save others. God took care of them and God will take care of you. There is always life and everything we need for life in the manger. Don’t be afraid to let things die so that others might live. Please remember that this is all an illustration intended to encourage you to allow the Lord to reveal great things to you concerning your life with Him. Go to Him with childlike faith and He will help you to keep your relationship with Him fresh and new and full. Jesus came that we might be made whole. We are only complete in Him.
