EVERYTHING

For everything comes from him; everything exists by His power and is intended for His glory. To Him be glory evermore. Amen. (Romans 11:36 NLT)

It is only by faith that we can believe that everything comes from God. There are so many things around us that war against this truth, and yet we can never be truly free until we believe it. Only someone who has experienced the freedom of the truth can even begin to comprehend how great it really is. Until then, it remains just words on paper.

But once even the smallest part has been experienced, the door is opened for greater revelations to make their way into our lives. And so the journey begins into a walk of faith. It is God’s desire to fill our walk of faith with everything that He has. He wants to do this so He can use us to attract others to Himself.

In Romans, we are told that God wanted to make Israel jealous by showing love and kindness to the gentiles. Everything that God does, He does in order to bring people into fellowship with Him once again. We need to focus on this plan as we live our lives.

So we see why God wanted to let us know that everything comes from Him. He has everything and it is His desire to get it to those who trust Him to do it. It is hard for us to believe at times that God would want to do things for us or provide things for us, but remember it was His idea to be our Father. He just wants His kids to love Him. That is what every father wants isn’t it?

Everything exists by His power. Well then why doesn’t he just destroy everything evil? It is odd, but it is usually unbelievers who make such statements. Fortunately God does not just go ahead and destroy everything evil, for if He did, they would not be around to see what it is like when everything evil was gone. Right now, God continues to allow evil only because He is giving more people an opportunity to believe.

No one understands all that God does, and no one knows enough to tell Him how to do what He has planned. We can seek Him for understanding and wisdom, but we can never improve on His plans. It is simply of the utmost importance that we understand that everything comes from Him and exists by His power.

Finally we must plan on His glory being revealed in all things. As I have thought about this, it has convicted to put more effort into seeing that everything brings Him glory. I want my actions and words and gifts to do what God intended. So I am asking myself in different situations if it is worth it to just do or say what I want if it is going to do less than bring glory to God. I may have to hold my tongue, or change my attitude, or whatever the situation requires, but if I exist to bring glory to God, then I better do it.
